Kinetic Biennial

Since 2013, the City of Boynton Beach has curated a free, public art exhibit and symposium dedicated to kinetic art and design by contemporary artists from around the world. As curated by Weiss for 2023 Biennial, kinetic art was defined as visual, conceptual, participatory and experiential art where real motion, the illusion of motion or the feeling of motion is an essential attribute of the aesthetic content of the artwork. Human fascination with movement and curiosity about new art and technologies expands the connections between the artist and many communities.

The 6th Kinetic Biennial displayed outdoor sculpture and op art murals alone East Ocean Avenue between City Hall and the Boynton Beach Marina. On the weekend of January 28-29, 2023, indoor gallery exhibitions, artist talks, video room, vendors, food trucks and musical performances were held in Boynton Beach Town Square.

Outdoor works were by John Poche, NEON, Sinisa Kukec, Lin Emery, Daniele Frazier, Sterling Rook, Eugene Perry, Laurence Gartel, Dadang Christanto, Dr. Alex Rodriguez and Chris Eliades. The 2023 spinners were by Michelle Drummond, Turgo Bastien, Tom D’Aria, Andrea Canham, Ethread Joseph and Joseph Velasquez.
